I am Rebecca Lee, a BACP accredited counsellor operating as Rebecca Lee Therapy, based in Altrincham, Cheshire. I am the data controller for the personal data collected through this website and in the course of providing counselling services.

2. What data I collect and why
I collect and use personal data only where I have a lawful basis for doing so under UK GDPR.
Contact form enquiries
When you use the contact form on this website, I collect your name, email address, phone number (if provided), and any message you choose to include. This information is used solely to respond to your enquiry. The lawful basis for processing this data is legitimate interests.
Booking data
When you book a session through this website, I collect your name, contact details, and appointment preferences. This information is necessary to provide the service you have requested. The lawful basis for processing this data is contract.
Session notes and clinical records
As a BACP accredited counsellor, I am required to keep records of our work together. These notes are kept securely and confidentially. The lawful basis for processing this data is legitimate interests and legal obligation.
Accessibility information
If you share accessibility requirements with me, this is considered special category data under UK GDPR. I will only process this information with your explicit consent, and solely for the purpose of ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place for your sessions.
3. Third parties who process your data
In order to operate this website and provide my services, some of your data is processed by trusted third-party services. These are:
Kiku
Session bookings are managed through Kiku (wearekiku.com), which processes your name, contact details, and appointment information. Please refer to Kiku's privacy policy for details of how they handle your data.
This website is hosted on Google Sites, and online sessions are conducted via Google Meet or similar video platforms. Google may process certain technical data as part of providing these services. Please refer to Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com for further information.
4. How long I keep your data
In line with BACP guidelines, client records are retained for a minimum of seven years following the end of therapy, or until the age of 25 in the case of a client who was a minor at the time of therapy, whichever is longer.
Enquiries that do not result in a therapeutic relationship are retained only for as long as necessary to respond, and are then securely deleted.
At the end of the relevant retention period, all personal data is securely destroyed.
5. Confidentiality and its limits
Everything you share with me in the course of counselling is held in the strictest confidence. However, there are a small number of circumstances in which I may be required or ethically obligated to share information without your consent, including:
— If I have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of another person
— If I am required to do so by law or a court order
— If you disclose information relating to terrorism or money laundering
In all cases, I will aim to discuss this with you first wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so. Confidentiality and its limits will be covered fully in your first session.
6. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights in relation to the personal data I hold about you:

— The right to have inaccurate data corrected
— The right to request deletion of your data (subject to my legal and professional obligations to retain records)
— The right to withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis for processing
— The right to restrict or object to processing in certain circumstances

This website is hosted on Google Sites, which may set cookies on your device for functional and analytical purposes. The booking calendar embedded on this site is provided by Kiku and may also use cookies. I do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes.
